FAMILY 3-LEVEL LIVING

Hopkinton

This was a custom home build project on a challenging sloped piece of land in an existing subdivision. A modern take on the family farmhouse, the 3-level 4,500+ square foot home boasts a 36-foot wall of glass which consists of fully operable patio doors and windows designed to invite nature into the open plan main living level, which is the heartbeat of this sprawling family home. A vaulted ceiling frames a fireplace wall, which showcases nickel gap painted shiplap planks, warms and balances the bright open space and frames the upper dormer windows, front and rear. The contemporary open plan allows this living space to blend seamlessly with the dining area and through into the farmhouse-style kitchen. Sliding farmhouse doors separate a cozy flexible-use sitting room.

Upstairs offers four generous bedrooms each with en suite bathrooms. The landing is walled with nickel gap boards, and the flooring is wide plank European French Oak. The private hallway to the primary suite features dual walk in closets and a small sitting area. The finished basement has a full bathroom with a kitchenette, a home gym, and entertainment areas with a custom built in media wall.

The façade is Hardie Plank siding (fiber cement) with PVC trim and standing seam accent roofs. The home features an updated farmhouse porch design on the front exterior and a paving stone patio. To tame the lot’s slope a Redi-Rock block retaining wall has been constructed and back filled allowing for a sweeping level back lawn. A rear porch overhang covers a patio with bar-height counter and folding window with kitchen access.
